The Miniature Football Bowl Championship Series

The Miniature Football Bowl Championship Series (MFBCS) is presented as a Nationwide FBS college football league with the intention of gathering Miniature Football hobbyists from regions representing the Power Five NCAA Football conferences to compete in regional leagues with conference finalists qualifying for a National BCS playoff.

The concept is that each regional league will compete with teams forming representative Power Five conferences, and the top 5 teams from each league will qualify for a National BCS title, with 7 "wildcard" invitations extended in addition.

An FAQ section is offered for your consideration.

WHICH TEAM MAY I CHOOSE TO COMPETE WITH?

Participating coaches will choose teams that represent their "region" within the US, and within conferences regional to where they live.  At this moment, participation is on a first come, first serve basis.  A team who is Independent or otherwise not associated with a particular conference may be chosen and "petition" to play in a certain conference; FBS and FCS teams are eligible.  NO DUPLICITY of a team will be allowed; i.e.  there cannot be two University of Alabama teams in the SEC.  Teams currently listed in the standings section of each Conference are currently taken, pending registration and payment of dues.

HOW MUCH ARE THE DUES AND WHAT WILL FUNDS BE USED FOR?

Annual dues are 50$ and once received will reserve your team assuming the team is available.  Dues will be paid to a national MFBCS treasury account.    Funds will be held in escrow.  A budget exists, and funds  will be sequestered  from each coach to cover the expense of this website which serves and a national database for the MFBCS.  Additionally, funds will be reserved for the MFBCS Championship trophy, Non-BCS bowl trophies, and for individual player award trophies to include the Heisman Trophy.  Additinally, funds are used for the National Playoff Weekend to cover meeting room expenses and a banquet.  Sponsors have been secured to assist in covering expenses for the website and playoff fields, to the tune of over 5000$.

WHICH RULE SET WILL BE UTILIZED?

The 2018 TOC ruleset will be used for this league (with a few rules slightly adjusted)  with the caveat that all conference league games and National playoff games will feature 45 minutes halves with each coach having two time outs at his disposal per half.  After the 2020 season, rules including rule sets will be clarified by majority vote of the Commissioner Committee.

WILL STATISTICS BE A FEATURE OF THE MFBCS?

Coaches will keep stats for all conference and playoff games.   Stats will then be gathered by conference commissioners, and forwarded to a national MFBCS statistician who will enter the stats into this website, and publish them.

WHERE WILL THE NATIONAL PLAYOFFS BE HELD?

The National MFBCS Playoffs will be held in Southlake, Texas the weekend of June 18-20,  2021.   Tentatively the Hilton Southlake Hotel will be the venue.  For the time being it has been decided to keep the National Playoff  Weekend in Texas as it is centrally located.

HOW MANY GAMES WILL EACH CONFERENCE PLAY?

Each conference will play an 8-12 game schedule created by the Conference Commissioner.   Conferences will be split into divisions when sufficient teams are involved.  Each conference will have a conference championship game.  If opportunities arise for inter-conference games to be played they will be allowed to a maximum of four per team.  Inter-conference games will not impact Conference standings; and Conference standings will determine invitation to the National Playoffs.  At this point it is planned for each team to play 8-12 games maximum.

HOW MANY TEAMS WILL BE IN EACH CONFERENCE?

Each conference will be capped at 18 teams.  Nine  conferences have been created.

WHAT IS THE PLANNED FORMAT OF THE PLAYOFFS?

Currently the playoffs are planned to be a 48 team single elimination event.  The playoffs will be held on Saturday with the final four slated to play Sunday.  Teams eliminated will be paired up Saturday evening for Non-BCS Bowl games.  Events will be planned for Friday night to include the Conference Championship games.   A National Invitational Tournament is planned for Friday of the weekend, with the top two finishers qualifying for the 48 team Playoff.

WHO WILL DECIDE WHO QUALIFIES FOR THE PLAYOFFS AND THE SEEDINGS?

A mathematical formula will be provided to determine how many teams per conference will receive invitations to the Playoff.  At this point it will be the top 35% teams in each conference, therefore larger conferences will receive more invitations.

WHO WILL VOTE ON NATIONAL AWARD WINNERS?

An Awards Committee will convene to develop a ballot and vote for all MFBCS individual player awards.

WHAT ABOUT IF A COACH FORFEITS GAMES?

It is intended that forfeits in the league will not occur.  Forfeits are devastating to all existing leagues across the country.  They destroy proper seeding of leagues as well as statistics.  For these reasons, strict rules will be enforced regarding forfeits.  One forfeit, coach is ineligible for post season play, consideration of awards, and loss of voting privileges. Two forfeits, one year ban from the MFBCS and loss of rights to existing team.  Three forfeits, permanent ban from the MFBCS.  Non-negotiable, and loss of dues as well for penalties.

WHEN WILL THE CONFERENCE LEAGUE GAMES BE PLAYED?

We plan to launch conference play on November 15, 2021..  Each conference should complete league play by May 16, 2021.  Strict parameters will be published to allow for accurate seeding of the top four finishers in each conference league, and those teams will become qualifiers.  Likely 3-4 Wild Card Qualifiers with receive invitations to the Playoff, in addition to the finalists of the NIT.
